The Freshers’ Day at KLES’ Institute of Nursing Sciences, Chikodi, was celebrated on 30th November 2024 with great enthusiasm. The program began with an introduction by Ms. Akshata, 4th-semester BSc(N) student, and Mr. Praveen 2nd-semester BSc(N) student. Ms. Bhagyashree, a 2nd-semester BSc(N) student, performed the prayer song.
We were honoured to have Shri. N. V. Shirgaonkar, Head of the Department and Lecturer in History at R.D.P.U. College, Chikodi, as the chief guest. The Principal, Dr. Sunil M.B. welcomed and introduced the chief guest to the audience.
The event commenced with the watering of a plant by the chief guest, the principal, and the students. The freshers then introduced themselves. Mr. Sachin L.S. Nursing Tutor, announced the SNA bearers and recited the SNA Oath.
The chief guest delivered an inspiring speech on the importance of shaping behaviour, knowledge, and skills in nursing. He emphasized the development of study habits and the vital role of nursing in caring for humankind. He also elaborated on career opportunities, future perspectives in nursing, and encouraged students to strive for excellence in nursing services.
The principal felicitated the chief guest, and the formal function concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Girish, a 2nd-semester BSc(N) student.
In the evening, the cultural Programmes were organized by Mr. Akash and Ms. Ankita, 4th-semester BSc(N) students. The freshers were warmly welcomed, and their talents were showcased through various performances. Mr. Fresher- Mr. Altaf and Miss Fresher- Sneha were crowned, receiving tokens of appreciation. The program ended on a high note, with an energetic and enjoyable atmosphere.

Constitution Day Organized by KLES’ Institute of Nursing Sciences, Chikodi On 26th November 2024, On the occasion of this event we organized an engaging event to celebrate the spirit of democracy and educate students about its pivotal role in nation-building. The program aimed to raise awareness, encourage active participation, and instil a deeper understanding of democratic values among the students and faculty members.
The celebration began with a collective reading of the Preamble to the Constitution, emphasizing the core principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. A special video on democracy was showcased, offering students an insightful perspective on the significance of democratic governance and their role in preserving it. This initiative not only enriched the students’ knowledge of democracy but also inspired them to embrace its principles in their daily lives, fostering a sense of responsibility as young citizens of the nation.
The Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics from KAHER, Belagavi, hosted an awareness program on 5th November 2024, in observance of International Prosthetics and Orthotics Day. The event took place at the KLE’S Institute of Nursing Sciences in Chikodi and began with a heartfelt welcome address from Dr. Sunil M B. Principal of the Institution. Dr. Arpita Padi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics, along with her dedicated team from KAHER, Belagavi, led the informative session.
KLE’S Institute of Nursing Sciences Chikodi organized a motivational session on 25-10-2024 for the 3rd Batch of B.Sc. Nursing fresher students. The esteemed guest speaker, Dr. M.K. Mathapati Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering from KLE College of Engineering and Technology Chikodi, inspired the students by discussing the power of mindset, strategies for overcoming negative thoughts, and outlining four essential steps to success. The session featured interactive brainstorming activities to promote student engagement. Additionally, The Principal of the College highlighted the crucial role of motivation in a student’s academic journey.
The Orientation Programme for the 3rd Batch of B.Sc. Nursing was held from October 21 to October 23, 2024, at KLES Institute of Nursing Sciences, Chikodi. The event began with a warm welcome address from Ms. Sonali R, Senior Tutor, acknowledging dignitaries, parents, and the incoming students. Dr. Sunil M.B., the Principal, welcomed the new B.Sc. Nursing students and congratulated them and their families for choosing this noble profession. He provided an overview of the KLE Society, setting the tone for the sessions that followed. On the final day, October 23, the Principal provided an overview of the B.Sc. Nursing curriculum, examination schemes, and academic regulations. Faculty members also explained anti-ragging measures to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
World Mental Health Day on October 10, 2024, was observed with significant events at KLE’s Institute of Nursing Sciences in Chikodi, centred around the theme “It is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace.” A variety of activities were organized throughout the week to raise awareness about mental health among faculty and staff.
Event Highlights: Round Table Discussion, Tea and Talk: Storytelling & Sharing Session, Yoga at the Workplace, Guided Meditation. Life Skills Activities were conducted for teaching and non-teaching faculty from the selected KLE’s constituent institutions on October 9 and 10. These sessions focused on enhancing personal development and coping skills through engaging exercises, including:

For the nursing students, a Slogan Writing Contest was organized on October 10, 2024, encouraged creativity in mental health awareness. Students also embraced the theme of envisioning their *future selves by wearing outfits representing their future aspirations. The week-long series of events successfully highlighted the importance of prioritizing mental health in the workplace, fostering a culture of openness and support within the institute.
On 21st September 2024, KLE Society’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Chikodi, organized a Nutrition Day as part of the academic curriculum for II semester (1st year) BSc Nursing students. Nutrition plays a crucial role in human growth and development, starting from the fetal stage in the womb and continuing throughout life. The students were divided into four groups by Mr. Mounesh Badiger, Assistant Professor, and each group was assigned a specific theme for food preparation.
– Group 1: Food for pregnant women, Group 2: Food for preschool children Group, 3: Food for elderly women Group, 4: Food for adult men.
The students gathered in the nutrition lab with the necessary raw ingredients and were provided utensils by the college. They prepared their dishes with care, maintaining hygiene, and presented them attractively.
Dr. Santosh Shivannavar, Associate Professor and HOD Department of Swasthavrita and Yoga from KLE Ayurveda Medical College, Chikodi, was invited as the guest and nutrition advisor. He tasted the dishes prepared by each group and expressed satisfaction with both the taste and presentation. He also provided valuable advice on the importance of nutrients. Dr. Sunil M. B., Principal of KLE Society’s Institute of Nursing Sciences in Chikodi, tasted the dishes prepared by students and shared his insights on the importance of nutrition in daily life. After the tasting, both teachers and students enjoyed the food together.
This hands-on experience in food preparation and nutritional education was highly beneficial, and students are looking forward to further enhancing their skills and knowledge with increased enthusiasm in future events.
On September 20, 2024, KLE’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Chikodi, had the privilege of hosting a delegation of German language experts and educators. The visit aimed to ignite interest in the German language and culture among students and to showcase the academic and professional opportunities that learning the language can offer, particularly in the field of nursing.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Principal, faculty members, and students. The session commenced with an address by Mr. Veeresh J. A., Director of German Aspirations, who emphasized the growing importance of the German language in today’s globalized world, especially within the healthcare sector. He elaborated on the eligibility criteria for nurses wishing to work in Germany, the level of language proficiency required, the stipends available during both language learning and training, and the salaries offered in European countries.
Mr. Kedar, Head of German Training and Aspirations, delivered a motivational speech, sharing insights into the lifestyle and professional opportunities available to nurses in Germany.The visit was an enriching experience for both students and faculty, opening doors to international academic and career pathways. Dr. Sunil M. B., Principal of the college, convened the event and spoke about the various social security benefits available in Germany, including retirement benefits, health insurance, and provisions for family members. The visit was a great success, leaving a lasting and inspiring impact on all participants.
World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) is observed annually on September 10, with the theme for 2024-2026 being “Changing the Narrative on Suicide,” and the call to action “Start the Conversation.” This theme emphasizes the importance of breaking the stigma around suicide and promoting open, supportive dialogues as a key preventive measure.
In recognition of WSPD, KLE Institute of Nursing Sciences, Chikodi, organized an E-learning session on September 11, 2024. The event featured esteemed speakers who provided valuable insights into suicide prevention strategies.
The session commenced with a warm welcome address by the teaching faculty and Principal of the institution. The first session was led by Ms. Renuka Kanta, a Mental Health Professional from TeleManas, DIMAHNS. She covered crucial topics, including the myths and facts about suicide, recognizing warning signs, supporting individuals at risk, and preventive measures.
The second session was conducted by Dr. Vikrant Nesari, Principal of KLE’S Centenary Institute of Nursing Sciences, Yellur, Belagavi District. Dr. Nesari explained the practical realities of handling suicide attempt cases.
The event concluded with a speech from, Dr. Sunil M.B., Principal of KLE Society’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Chikodi, who highlighted the important role that health professionals and nursing students have in spreading awareness and helping prevent suicide in society.

The 10th International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great enthusiasm and participation, at KLE’s Institute of Nursing Sciences and KLE School, Chikodi, on June 21, 2024. The event, themed “Yoga for Self and Society,” aimed to promote the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of practicing yoga, emphasizing its role in achieving holistic health and well-being.
The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony led by esteemed yoga instructors Dr. Santosh Shivannavar and Dr. Jeevankumar Gadage (BAMS, MD) from the Department of Swasthvritta and Yoga, and Mr. Mallikarjun Bachadi, a yoga trainer and therapist from Ayurveda Medical College, Chikodi. They highlighted the significance of yoga in modern life.
Dr. Sunil M. B., Principal of KLE’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, and Mr. Chetankumar Alwade, Principal of KLE School Chikodi, also graced the event, enhancing its prestige. Yoga instructor Mr. Mallikarjun Bachadi and students from Ayurveda Medical College, Chikodi conducted yoga session from 8:30 am to 9:30 am, which included Hatha, Vinyasa, and Pranayama practices. These sessions focused on breathing techniques and asanas aimed at enhancing flexibility and relaxation. A Sahaja Yoga session was conducted by Sahaja Yogis from the Sahaja Yoga Centre, Belagavi, from 12 noon for students of B.Sc Nursing and KLE School. This session aimed to help individuals experience self-realization and inner transformation. Mr. Suresh Teradale, a certified yoga instructor, led various yoga asanas for the teaching and non-teaching faculty of KLE’s Institute of Nursing Sciences and KLE School Chikodi, catering to all skill levels.
On the 5th of June 2024, the KLE Society’s Institute of Nursing Sciences in Chikodi orchestrated a vibrant celebration in honor of World Environment Day. Mrs. Ashirwad M. D., Senior Nursing Officer, KLE Prabhakar Kore Hospital, Chikodi, graced the event as the esteemed chief guest, lending her prestige to the occasion. Billur, Principal, KLE CB Kore Polytechnic College, Chikodi as President of the event, added a distinguished presence to the occasion.
The Sports Meet provided a platform for students from the first and third semesters of BSc Nursing to showcase their athletic abilities and team spirit. From track and field events to team sports like kabaddi, throwball, and volleyball, and individual games like chess and badminton, the students displayed remarkable skill and determination.
