The 5th Semester B.Sc. Nursing students of KLE Society’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Chikodi, conducted a School Health Programme at Karnataka Public School, Kerur Village on 29-06-2026, as a part of their Community Health Nursing clinical posting. The programme was organized under the guidance and supervision of the faculty members with the objective of promoting the health and well-being of school children through health assessment, early identification of health problems, and to provide health education.
The programme included students from 1st Standard to 6th Standard. A comprehensive general health assessment was carried out, which included the measurement of height, weight, mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC), and assessment of the nutritional status of the children. The students also observed the overall physical health of the school children and recorded the findings systematically.
The School Health Programme was successfully completed with the cooperation of the school authorities, teachers, faculty members, and students. The programme enhanced the practical knowledge, communication skills, and community health competencies of the nursing students while contributing to the promotion of healthy habits among school children. Overall, the programme was a meaningful and successful initiative that strengthened the students’ understanding of school health services and preventive healthcare.
The 5th Semester B.Sc. Nursing students of KLE Society’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Chikodi, actively participated in the Pulse Polio Immunization Drive conducted on 28th June 2026. The objective of the programme was to support the National Immunization Programme, eradicate polio through universal immunization, enhance community awareness regarding vaccination.
The students were deputed to different vaccination centres, including General Hospital, Chikodi, Mother and Child Hospital, Chikodi, and Chikodi Bus Stand, where they actively assisted the healthcare team in carrying out the Pulse Polio Immunization Drive. They were involved in the registration of beneficiaries, verification of vaccination records, guiding parents and caregivers, maintenance of vaccination registers and ensured the smooth functioning of the vaccination sessions.
The vaccination drive was successfully conducted with the active participation of the students and the support of healthcare professionals. The programme enhanced the students’ practical knowledge, communication skills, and understanding of community health services, while also creating awareness among the public about the importance of immunization in preventing vaccine-preventable diseases.
Overall, the Pulse Polio Immunization Drive conducted on 28th June 2026 was a successful community health initiative that fulfilled its objectives of promoting immunization, supporting public health services, and enriching the practical learning experience of the 5th Semester B.Sc. Nursing students of KLE Society’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Chikodi.
The 12th International Day of Yoga was celebrated on 21st June 2026 with great enthusiasm under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” The programme was jointly organized by KLE Ayurvedic Medical College, Chikodi, in collaboration with KLE’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Chikodi, and other KLE institutions of Chikodi at the KLE College of Engineering and Technology Ground, Chikodi.
The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest, Dr. Prakash Bellad, renowned water-yoga practitioner. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized that yoga is an excellent way of life that promotes physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Welcoming the participants, Dr. Kiran Kumar Mutnalli, Principal of KLE Ayurvedic Medical College, explained that yoga helps maintain harmony between the body, mind, and breath, thereby assisting in the management of stress and blood pressure.
Presiding over the programme, Dr. Darshan Billur, Principal of KLE College of Engineering and Technology, stated that incorporating yoga into daily life can bring positive transformation at both individual and societal levels. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Santosh Shivannavar, who administered the Yoga Sankalpa Oath to all the participants.
Principals of various KLE institutions, including Dr. B.G. Kulkarni, Mr. Vivek Khot, Mrs. Deepali Patil, Mr. P.V. Reddy, and Dr. Sunil M.B., along with faculty members, staff, and students, were present on the occasion. More than 1,500 students and members of the public enthusiastically participated in the celebration.
World No Tobacco Day Awareness Programme was organized on 11 June 2026 at Chikkodi. The programme was jointly conducted by the KLE Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Chikkodi, in collaboration with the KLE’S Institute of nursing sciences, Chikodi, Assistant Commisioners office, Tahashildar office, District Court, KSRTC Chikodi, District Health and Family Welfare Department, Taluka Health Office, Muncipalty office, Chikodi.
The objective of the programme was to create awareness among the public about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and the importance of adopting a tobacco-free lifestyle. Health professionals educated the public on the health risks associated with smoking and smokeless tobacco use, including cancer, respiratory diseases, and cardiovascular disorders.
As part of the awareness drive, students and faculty members participated in rallies and public education activities, displaying placards and delivering messages encouraging people to quit tobacco. The programme emphasized the theme of protecting present and future generations from the adverse effects of tobacco and promoting a healthier society.
On the eve of World No Tobacco Day, a Tobacco Cessation Centre was inaugurated at KLE Ayurveda Hospital, Chikodi by Shri Vijay Kumar, Hon’ble District Judge, 7th Additional Bench, Chikodi, as the Chief Guest. The distinguished invitees included Shri ArunKumar G, Hon’ble Senior Judge, Civil Court, Chikodi, Shri R. B. Hitalmani Secretory Bar Council Chikodi, Dr. P B Kanadale Taluka Health Officer Chikodi, Dr.Kirankumar Mutnali Principal of KLE Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Chikodi, Dr. Sunil M. B. Principal KLE’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Chikodi.
KLE Society’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Chikodi observed World Environment Day on 05-06-2026. On this occasion, the NSS Unit of the institute organized various awareness and community-based activities aligned with the Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) initiative. The activities were conducted under the seven themes of Mission LiFE.
As part of the observance, a cleanliness drive was conducted at Kerur Village to promote environmental responsibility and community participation. In addition, an extensive social media awareness campaign was carried out to educate the public about the objectives and importance of Mission LiFE and sustainable living practices. NSS volunteers, including students and faculty members, actively participated in the programme and contributed to the successful conduct of the activities.
KLE’S Institute of Nursing Sciences Chikodi in collaboration with FAME Academy, Bengaluru organized two-day Simulation-Based Training in Safe Delivery and Newborn Care for 7th Semester B.Sc. Nursing students on 23rd and 24th May 2026.
The guest speaker, Raghavendra B.G., Director of FAME Academy, addressed the gathering and spoke about the growing importance of simulation technology in healthcare education. He motivated students to develop both technical competencies and compassionate patient-care practices. He also appreciated the institution for organizing such competency-based educational programmes for future healthcare professionals.
Presidential remarks were delivered by Dr. Sunil M. B., Principal of the institute. In his address, he welcomed the invited resource persons and appreciated the collaboration with FAME Academy for organizing such a valuable educational initiative. He emphasized the importance of simulation-based learning in nursing education and skill-oriented training are essential in preparing competent nurses capable of providing safe maternal and newborn care. He encouraged students to actively participate in the sessions and utilize the opportunity to strengthen their clinical confidence and decision-making abilities.

KLE Society’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Chikodi, organized a Capacity Building Programme on Comprehensive Maternal Nursing for 7th Semester B.Sc. Nursing students on 15th and 16th May 2026. The programme aimed to enhance students’ knowledge and practical competencies in maternal nursing through expert-led theoretical and practical sessions. Day 1: 15th May 2026
On the first day, three sessions comprising both theoretical and practical components were conducted.
Dr. Uma Kole, Associate Professor, Department of OBG Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi, conducted an informative session on fetal skull, female pelvis, puerperium, followed by a practical demonstration session. Dr. Shweta Angadi, Assistant Professor, Department of OBG Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi, delivered a session on physiological changes during pregnancy, along with practical aspects of episiotomy and suturing. Mrs. Rukmini Kakatikar, Assistant Professor, Department of OBG Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Yallur, Belagavi, conducted sessions on stages of labour, mechanism of labour, uses of partograph, placental examination, and preterm labour. Day 2: 16th May 2026
On the second day, Mrs. Gauravva L Kadam, Assistant Professor, Department of OBG Nursing, KLE Society’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Gokak, conducted an insightful session on malposition’s and abnormal positions during labour.
At the conclusion of the programme, the principal and faculty members felicitated the resource persons as a gesture of gratitude and appreciation for their valuable contributions. The 7th Semester B.Sc. Nursing students actively participated in the programme and successfully completed all sessions, gaining enhanced knowledge and practical exposure in comprehensive maternal nursing.

The inauguration ceremony began with watering the plant, followed by a floral tribute and photo pooja to Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. The guest of the programme, Dr. Uma Kole, Associate Professor, Department of OBG Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi, addressed the gathering on the limitless role of nurses and emphasized that nurses are a powerful force in the medical profession.
Dr. Shweta Angadi, Assistant Professor, Department of OBG Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi, spoke about the significance of International Nurses Day and International Day of the Midwife. Mrs. Rukmini Kakatikar, Assistant Professor, Department of OBG Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Yallur, Belagavi, also addressed the gathering and extended her wishes to the entire nursing fraternity. The presidential address was delivered by Dr. Sunil M. B., Principal of the Institute, who spoke on the theme “One Million More Midwives” and emphasized the global demand for nurses and the shortage of nursing professionals in healthcare settings

The International Day of Yoga Mahotsav 2026 was organized on 13-05-2026 by KLE Society’s Ayurvedic Medical College, Chikodi in collaboration with Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. As a part of this event, the Principal, teaching faculty, non-teaching faculty, and students of KLE’s Institute of Nursing Sciences Chikodi actively participated in the Yoga Mahotsav program.
KLE Society’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Chikodi participated in a webinar organized by the Indian Nursing Council on May 5, 2026, in observance of the International Day of the Midwife. The session was centered on the theme “One Million More Midwives.” The webinar highlighted key aspects of midwifery, including ongoing initiatives, challenges, and the vital role midwives play in delivering comprehensive SRMNAH (Sexual, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, and Adolescent Health) services. It also provided insights into preconception care, care during pregnancy, and management during labor and childbirth. Emphasis was placed on strengthening India’s midwifery workforce and encouraging community participation in maternal and child health. Faculty members and 4th-year (7th semester) students actively attended and benefited from the session.
KLE’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Chikodi, observed International Women’s Day on 14th March 2026. This year’s theme was “Give to Gain.” The event was organized under the guidance of the Principal, Dr. Sunil M. B. The program commenced with a prayer song, followed by a warm welcome speech by Mr. Joy C. 3rd semester B. Sc Nursing student. The principal addressed the gathering, speaking on women’s equality, empathy, and the significant role of women in society. Following this, the faculty members also shared their reflections on the importance of Women’s Day.
The celebration included a cake-cutting ceremony involving all faculty members. Additionally, various energetic games were organized for female faculty and students, who actively participated and enjoyed the activities. The event was successfully concluded by the Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Altaf Naikodi, 3rd semester B. Sc Nursing student.
The Annual Sports Meet 2026 at KLE Society’s Institute of Nursing Sciences was a vibrant celebration of athleticism, enthusiasm, and team spirit. Held on February 20th and 21st, the event witnessed remarkable participation from students across various semesters, creating an atmosphere filled with energy and excitement Honouring the occasion with their esteemed presence were Mr. Om Bavade, an international sports player, and Mr. Suhel Ahmed Sahebwale, Physical Director of KLE School, Chikodi. The welcome address was delivered by Ms. Sameena Shaik, a 3rd Semester B.Sc Nursing student, who extended warm greetings to the Principal, distinguished guests, faculty, and students. The Chief Guest was formally introduced by Ms. Ankita Mirje from the 7th Semester B.Sc Nursing.
In his insightful speech, Chief Guest Mr. Om Bavade shared his sports journey and emphasized the importance of regular physical exercise in maintaining good health. Mr. Shridhar Narnsannavar, a 7th Semester B.Sc Nursing student, delivered the sports oath, reinforcing the spirit of fairness, unity, and true sportsmanship among the participants.
The sports meet saw enthusiastic participation from students of the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th semesters, who competed in a variety of events, displaying exceptional skill and determination. Track and field competitions, along with team sports such as kabaddi, throwball, volleyball, and cricket, highlighted teamwork and coordination. Individual games like chess and badminton further showcased the students’ versatility and competitive spirit.
On February 14, 2026, KLE Society’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Chikodi, organized the Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony for the 4th batch of B.Sc. Nursing students. Dr. Sunil M.B., Principal of the Institute, graciously welcomed the esteemed guests and everyone gathered for the occasion. He conveyed his best wishes to the aspiring nurses as they embarked on their journey into the honorable profession of nursing. The Chief Guest, Dr. Srinivas L D. Member of Senate, RGUHS Bengaluru addressed the gathering and spoke about the significance of the oath taken during the ceremony.

As the ceremony concluded, Mr. Mounesh Badiger, Assistant Professor, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all those involved in making the event a success. The Master of Ceremony for the program was efficiently and gracefully conducted by Ms. Rajashri Mirje, Senior Tutor, who coordinated the event with great skill and professionalism.
“The New Year 2026” was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 01-01-2026 at KLE’s Institute of Nursing Sciences, Chikodi. The celebration began with a warm welcome extended to the Principal, Dr. Sunil M. B., along with the teaching and non-teaching faculty and students. The event commenced with a joyful cake-cutting ceremony, followed by a motivational address by the principal, who inspired students with his thoughts on embracing the new year, adapting to new regulations, and striving to achieve their goals.
Adding excitement to the celebration, students organized a “Lucky Teacher” and “Lucky Student of the Year” segment. Dr Sunil M. B., Principal of the institute, was declared the Lucky Teacher of the Year, while Ms. Praneeta Kumbar, a 5th semester B.Sc. Nursing student, was honoured as the Lucky Student of the Year. The celebration reached its peak with fun-filled games organized by the students, actively engaging both faculty members and students, and creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere throughout the event.
